Gwyneth Wipperman Stonehouse passed away in the early hours of February 24, 2018. She was born November 18, 1922, in Kent England to Lillian and Cyril Wipperman. Gwyneth grew up near Cardiff Wales, in a beautiful home called ‘Bryony’, that was designed and built by her parents.
Gwyneth attended St Matthias (Fishponds) teaching college in Bristol, England. In 1952, Gwyneth became a teacher, and after a competitive interview process, she was selected to participate in a teaching exchange program from England to America. She sailed to the States on the RMS Queen Mary; often recalling her first glimpse of the Statue of Liberty through the mist as they approached New York Harbor as one of the biggest thrills of her life. Gwyneth and her group of exchange teachers were welcomed with a reception at the White House by President Truman.
Gwyneth was eventually assigned to teach in Muncie, Indiana at Roosevelt Elementary. It was there in Muncie that Gwyneth met her future husband Gene “Stoney” Stonehouse on a blind date, and from that point on Stoney was the luckiest man in the world.
Gwyneth is survived by her three children, Anne, Daniel and Mary (Moore) (with husband Carl), two granddaughters, Jennifer Leiriao (with husband, Antonio) and Elizabeth McGann, and two great-grandchildren Thomas Lee and newborn Jolie Marie. Gwyneth was preceded in death by her devoted husband Eugene Stonehouse. Her sister Jean Calvin Thomas and nephews Jon and Nick Calvin Thomas reside in England and Wales. Words can’t express how fortunate they all are to have had such a wonderful and loving presence in their lives.
Gwyneth will be remembered by all that knew and loved her as one of the most special people they have known. Gwyneth’s bright, fun-loving spirit was a shining example for all.
Services will be: Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can may be sent to one of Gwyneth’s favorite charities: Hope for Life Rescue Inc., 610 Jack Rabbit Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23451 or Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, 1600 Ken Thompson Parkway, Sarasota, FL 34236.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Helen Brown and Dr. George Elms for their loving support, care and friendship to Gwyneth and her family.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Gwyneth. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible’s promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time.

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Gwyneth. The loss of a loving mother is hard to bear. It was a pleasure and honour to have known her.
It seems very appropriate for the funeral to take place on March 1st St. David’s Day – the patron Saint of Wales as Gwyneth spent her younger years living in Wales.
Our condolences to all the family

that she raised (meaning you), I know that she was precious. Love, Andrea
